Purpose
The Young at Arts Program at Newark School of the Arts provides artistic programming specially designed for children between the ages of 4 and 7. Each class is tailored to meet the developmental needs of students and to prepare each student for further training beyond the Young at Arts Program.
The Young at Arts Program offers a range of artistic genres including Suzuki Violin, Orff-Schulwerk, Dance, Drama, Drawing and Painting. Each class is taught sequentially, building upon skills needed to enter into the next phase of artistic learning. For example, students in the Young at Arts Pre-Ballet class can follow-up with Hip-Hop, African, and Tap, Ballet and Modern Dance.
The faculty teaching lessons for students in the Young at Arts Program are highly qualified in working with pre-adolescent youth. Parents are an integral part of the Young at Arts Program by observing, participating and providing support for their children.
Students in the Young at Arts Program will be invited to participate in performance events.
