Purpose
Newark School of the Arts offers an enjoyable and educational 4-week summer art program in July. The program will be overseen by Stephen Shiman, Executive Director, and co-directed by Ora Mitaul, Registrar and Manager of Student Affairs and Sharon Byroo-Persaud, Program Coordinator. Five counselors will assist the faculty and staff. The faculty members are comprised of the School's year-round faculty of artists.
The program will provide cultural and educational activities through various forms of arts training

and scheduled trips for up to 30 children ages 5-15. Children will be placed in three age groups; ages 5 to 8, 9 to 11 and 12 to 15. Students will be in safe, secure and creative environment from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Breakfast will be served from 8:00 am to 9:00 am.
Instruction in Percussion will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Chorus on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Drama on Thursday and Friday and Dance on Monday and Friday and Visual Arts Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 12:00pm. Lunch will be served from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Breakfast and lunches are provided by the City of Newark. At the end of the four week program, the children will participate in a summer culmination performance in which they will

| demonstrate what they learned over the summer.
