Newark School of the Arts Hispanic Concert
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Newark School of the Arts (NSA) will present a performance of Hispanic music. The performance will be held on October 30 at 12:15 p.m. at NSA Stella Lass Theatre, 186 Clinton Avenue, Newark, New Jersey. Admission is free and open to the public. The concert will include a variety of work by Hispanic composers from classical to contemporary performed by students and faculty artists. Featured performers include faculty members, composer and pianist Vicente Avella, guitarist Daryl Hester, saxophonist Leo Johnson, pianist Michael Costantino and soprano Susan Morehead, and work by visual artist Beatrice East.
Major support for NSA education programs comes from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, other government agencies, foundations, corporations and individuals.
Newark School of the Arts Announces Dance Scholarship Auditions

Newark School of the Arts (NSA) is pleased to announce auditions for its Fall Dance Program directed by Kim Richardson.
Auditions for the dance scholarships will be held on Friday, November 5th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the School's Clinton Avenue site. Scholarships will be based on talent open to students ages 8 to 24. All audition participants, age 18 or under, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Dance Program, directed by Kim Richardson a Juilliard graduate who is also Seniority Dance Teacher at Arts High School in Newark, offers classes in Pre-tap, Pre-ballet, Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Ghana African, African-Jazz, Liturgical and Salsa. for ages five and up at all levels.
Faculty members include artist/teachers, Shani Alson (Hip-Hop and Pre-Ballet), Robin Barker (Tap), Marcel Coleman (Ballet and Modern), Thalia DaCosta (Hip-Hop), Deborah Ford (Modern), Malinda Ingram (Liturgical), Nikkia Neal (Modern), Julie Rosenbluth (Ballet & Jazz), Nadiyah Smith-McCoy (African-Jazz), M.A. Taylor (Jazz), Jossue Torres (Salsa) and Mama Yaa (Ghana African). Classes are offered on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and from 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm several weekdays. The School has an open admission policy.
